"Reborn"
Sculpture by Christopher H.K. Lee - artist, producer, director and educator

Technology becomes outdated quickly and because computers become outdated, many are discarded each year. According to The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has estimated that 45 million computers became obsolete in 2005.

Artist Christopher H.K. Lee’s canvas involves mix media of recycled materials, e-waste, into amazing kinetic, robotic, interactive and functional sculptures created entirely from old discarded computer and electronic parts which would end up in a landfill as an environmental hazard.

All of his creations are functional and interactive resurrected from old scrapped electronic parts found mostly in junkyard and trash cans. He was also inspired by the intricate details and architecturally crafted electronic circuit boards as a piece of art by itself. “I’ve always been fascinated and found circuit boards amazing and interesting how all the mysterious patterns are engraved into a computer so that I can shop online.” “The palette of color and shape reveals itself which it motivated me to create new eco friendly arts.

His work illustrates the effects of detail and scale on perception. The element of surprise is used as a dramatic mechanism resulted from integrating imagery between human, technology, nature and culture.
